GEOLOGY: 6290 - Geothermal Engineer
The position reports to the Superintendent Geotechnical and Geothermal and will work alongside other Senior Geothermal scientists and engineers in the world’s most challenging geothermal environment. You will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of the work of the Geothermal production teams. The primary objective is to fully understand the geothermal reservoir and guide the optimal production strategy for the geothermal resource. You will provide technical leadership of operations focussed and project teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement in geothermal science and engineering systems and practices that will achieve optimum results.
Key elements of the position include

Exploration drilling and investigations to fully define the geothermal resource

Numerical modelling of the resource to define reserves and optimal the optimal extraction strategy

Geothermal depressurisation of future mining areas

Guiding all aspects of reservoir engineering, well testing and geothermal science for well targeting and planning

Guiding and mentoring of section personnel in all geothermal activities, including technical skills training and transfer to Papua New Guinea staff.
Qualifications and experience

Degree qualification in Reservoir Engineering or Geothermal Science a related discipline

At least 15 to 20 years experience in geothermal operations or similar experience as a Senior Geothermal Consultant at a major mining consulting firm

Demonstrated performance in leading project teams

Have a proven track record in working with multi-disciplinary teams on multiple projects

Is an effective communicator of complex issues, both through written reports and presentations in English

Current Class 1 Drivers License
This is a vital role in the Mining Department and requires a mature, reliable and committed person who is able to work safely and responsibly at all times.
