MINING ENGINEERING: 6338 - Senior Mine Planning Engineer - Perth - CLOSED

A Contract Mine Planning Engineer is required to manage the strategic mine plan development for the extraction of ore of one of our Clients future sites. The candidate will assess all opportunities and constraints and develop sound mining plans and schedules for the project based on a derived set of logical development options. The Mine Planning Engineer will carry out pit design and geology validation through the modelling of the project mining and operational requirements.

Duties:

  • Interact with GM to define the shape, size and composition of the resource and to establish the key criteria for mine planning and scheduling.
  • Investigate the Resource Model to establish sensitivity of Pit size, numbers and limits.
  • Establish the optimum mining method and design including the mining approach required for grade control.
  • Establish the use / need of stockpiles for ore blending and quality control.
  • Investigate the waste disposal options including schedule / cost effects of in-pit waste dumping, tailings co-deposition and mining methods in line with hydrogeological and geotechnical resource conditions.
  • Carry out investigations / analyses / appraisals of all aspects of the proposed operational practices.
  • Review the selection of mining fleet, facilities and systems to support the proposed mine plans.
  • Assist with preparation of estimates for the production phase operational and control expenditures.
  • Carry out ‘market focused’ flexibility planning to establish optimal value adding mine plan.

Experience:

  • Experience in open cut pit optimisation and scheduling including waste dumping and co-deposition of tailings material.
  • Financial and risk analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of WA Mining Regulations, statutory DOIR and safety requirements relevant to open pit iron ore mining.
  • Competent in planning and scheduling tools such as Surpac, Vulcan, Whittle 4X and XPAC.

Qualifications: Engineering Degree
Experience: 10 + years experience| Significant exposure to similar Senior Engineering roles. Experience in open cut pit optimisation and scheduling including waste dumping and co-deposition of tailings material.
