GEOLOGY: 6330 - Database Administrator - CLOSED
Our client is currently seeking a Geology Database Administrator on a permanent basis for a residential role. This role reports to the Regional Geological Superintendent and you will play a critical role in maintaining the geological database ensuring its continual efficiency and availability for a team of geologists.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Management and support of drill database and spatial data systems within the region
- Development and maintenance of an integrated, comprehensive geo-information and drill database system
- Provide or facilitate formal and informal training of geoscientists and sustainability group on the application of GIS (Mapinfo/Discover), acQuire drill database software, and Datamine
- Service the region for drill database requirements and relevant hardware/software needs including travel to site offices as required
- Manage the Regional development group’s GIS and drill data hardware/software requirements. Include licensing maintenance and license server monitoring
Experience & Requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment
- Knowledge of Mapinfo/Discover, acQuire, Datamine and SQL
- Excellent communication skills – both oral & written
- Advanced geographical computer systems/software skills
- Knowledge of data management systems
- Analytical skills, excellent trouble shooting/fault finding skills
- Advanced file and directory management skills
- Understanding of commercial/business concepts and applications
