Our Client is an emerging Western Australian iron ore producer supplying high quality iron ore to major international markets. They are currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for their mining operation in the midwest region of Western Australia. The objective of this position is to provide technical mining support to the Resident Manager in order to ensure the efficient planning and running of the mining operation to meet the operational targets.

The key objectives of this position are to:

• Provide timely advice on short, medium and long term mine design, mining methods, mine plans and schedules to ensure agreed operating objectives are achieved.
• Manage and coordinate various teams including production engineering, surveying and contractors

Essential:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years in mine design/planning and reporting techniques
• An understanding of financial analysis techniques
• Experience in surface mining operations/planning
• Very good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Flexible approach to daily work
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge, particularly in Word and Excel
• Quarry Manager’s Certificate or First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate.
• Working knowledge of design and scheduling software Surpac.

Desirable:

• Iron ore experience
• Practical hands on mining experience
